Rêveuse Capture: 2020 in a nutshell...

Wow, what a year it has been! 2020 was truly unexpected and we're still not quite sure how this year went by so quickly. This year has been a rollercoaster of a ride, it's been challenging and mentally difficult, but we've done our best to make this year as positive as we can. With that being said, we're more than excited for 2021 to come round with more positives vibes and hopefully a glimpse at normality again, but we know there's still a long way to go. We wanted to end the year with our top Rêveuse moments. It's only been 8 months since we launched the blog to our followers, but we've published close to 100, yes 100(!) posts now which seems a bit crazy to us! What once was a little side hobby has turned into more of a passion that we hope you guys are enjoying too. Thank you to every one of you who has taken the time to read our posts or give us a follow, it truly means the world to us. So, enough of the rambling, let's move onto our best bits!

We can't exactly tell you how many packs of flour, eggs, and vanilla essence bottles we've gone through but let me tell you it's been a lot! We don't even want to think about the sugar and butter quantities... We've never really been baking connoisseurs, and was only done on special occassions, however this year encouraged us to take up new hobbies, one of which is baking now. We've trialled so many recipes, some being an absolute success the first time whilst others taking 3 or 4 trials to perfect. We will always remember our first caramel attempt; despite it being INCREDIBLY easy to make, we still somehow ended with 3 saucepans filled with burnt caramel! Despite that incredible fail, we have perfected our absolute go to recipes which we make on a regular basis including our Madeleines, Carrot Cake and of course our fruit juices! We're definitely going to have to tone the baking down next year because we've all put on a lot of weight this year eating all these delicious sweet treats...

We hit a 200 follower milestone the other day which we are extremely proud of! We've enjoyed being part of a small blogging community and discovering new content creators who inspire us so much! Its been a work in progress trying to get into the flow of realising our own aesthetic, again which has been a trial and error with lots of photo archiving but we think we've managed to find a style that we both like, capturing the mood and feel within our objects, style and recipes! We're hoping on branching out a bit this year with reels, something we haven't managed to touch the surface of so far but which we feel we can share some of our personality with you all!

Being quarantined at home for the majority of the year has allowed us to appreciate the smaller things in life, whether that be making a Mother's Day platter or even being able to go to the park for a walk for some fresh air. These moments really reminded us of how important it is to not take things for granted. We especially loved curating summer editorials at home or in our local park, which we usually would have never done, but coronavirus decided to come along and force us to be creative within our surroundings. Funnily enough, they are probably our favourite shoots we've done this year!

We were extremely fortunate and grateful to travel abroad this year despite all the circumstances. Dubrovnik is a place that I will cherish forever, and made even better by the people that we were surrounded with.  We're seriously craving that late summer evening sun, the crystal clear water and the fresh seafood and vegetables from the local markets. Oh, how could I possibly forget all the cats wandering the streets of Dubrovnik?! We did post a mini travel guide here, which gives you all the information if you're planning on visiting in the future.

05// STYLE

Our style has definitely changed a lot over the past few years but we feel that now with a blog we can now look back at our style and see our evolution hopefully in many years to come. Although about 70% of it this year was spent in our cosy indoor wear and gym wear we are finding the fun in fashion again with choosing pieces and spending time in curating an outfit rather than grabbing pieces without much thought. We have also revisited pieces that were once at the back of our wardrobes and styled it in a way that showcases our individual style in a modern way which makes us think about ways in which we can recycle and rewear items. We can't wait to continue this into the new year and see what trend forecasts are to come!

2020, you had so many highs and lows, so bring on 2021...
