Rêveuse Style: The Art of Collaging.

PHOTOGRAPHY & ART DIRECTION BY RÊVEUSEJOURNAL

Whilst having the biggest spring clearout recently, we stumbled across a pile of our very dusty art books. From a range of GCSE art books filled with dodgy portraits of our mates as well as artist bios (most definitely copied word for word from wiki) to our university/foundation work which seemed to have an emphasis on quick blind drawings, where you can't quite figure out if they have that artsy and conceptual je ne sais quoi or if it's just a load of rubbish. However, one style that ran throughout was the cut and stick kind of collage, consisting of inspirational imagery which inspired us to get creative with the photoshop scissors tool.

CREATIVITY IS JUST CONNECTING THINGS. WHEN YOU ASK CREATIVE PEOPLE HOW THEY DID SOMETHING, THEY FEEL A LITTLE GUILTY BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T REALLY DO IT, THEY JUST SAW SOMETHING. IT SEEMED OBVIOUS TO THEM AFTER A WHILE.

THERE IS A SKILLFULLNESS TO THE ART OF COLLAGING THAT IS VERY MUCH UNDERAPPRECIATED AND WE CAN VOUCH FOR THE TIME TAKEN TO CAREFULLY SELECT COMPATIBLE IMAGES TOGETHER, THE INDECISIVENESS IN BEING A PERFECTIONIST AND NOT TO MENTION THE PRECISION NEEDED IN CUTTING...

Some of our favourite collage artists include

Adam Hale - The Daily Splice , Rebecca Coltorti and John Stezaker.
