Rêveuse May Picks: Wellness and Beauty

The month of May went by in a flash, which means that it's time to post another monthly beauty picks. This month we have been inspired by the summery weather, choosing products that are fresh and fruity, almost good enough to eat! Let us know if you have tried any of these products out, we would love to know your thoughts!

Holika Holika is a brand that I've always noticed whenever I travel to Asia, being a Korean brand and most recently has been in stock on Asos so I thought I'd give it a go. Used to remove excess traces of dirt and oil, as well as balance the skins ph levels, this aloe based toner is great for dry skin due to aloe veras soothing and moisture locking properties. I enjoy this product as I feel like its not too harsh on the skin, unlike some other alcohol based toners I've tried previously and also leaves my skin feeling soft and supple after using it.

The Ordinary has always been on my list of brands to try out, however being quite sceptical and hearing different reviews I thought that I'd try it out myself as the price didn't really break the bank. Known for producing skincare that is affordable, yet uses scientifically proven ingredients that really help the skin, The Ordinary also looks minimal and straight to the point packaging that looks good in any bathroom. I picked out the Hyaluronic Acid (HA) with B5 ingredients as HA is a naturally produced substance in the body used to maintain the skins hydration levels and keep skin looking young and radiant. I use this thin product as a base before I apply heavy creams at night, to ensure that my creams soak in more easily to the deep layers. I have found that the consistency is a bit tacky but not discomforting and that my skin has been feeling more plump after using it. It has definitely dispelled any scepticism I had prior to trying this product out.

In addition to the product above, I also included the Salicylic Masque to my shopping bag. Infused with charcoal and clays, this product aims to target dead skin cells on the surface of the skin, in particular for blemish prone and oily skin. As my T-zone tends to be more oily I use this product only on my nose, chin and lower forehead area and leaving it on for no more than 10 minutes as suggested on the box. My initial thoughts is its tingling and burning sensation feels like you have a spread of mint on your face but personally I enjoy this feeling as I feel like its really doing the job. After I clean it off, my skin feels more refined and clean and would definitely recommend it for people with larger pores like myself.

As soon as I opened this tub of kiwi sugar scrub, my mouth was literally watering from its delectable kiwi scent. A great product for the summer, the L'Oreal Paris face and lip scrub helps to shed away dead skin and turnover the new stronger barrier of skin. This product in particular helps to target blackheads and contains 3 fine sugars with 100% natural kiwi seeds for that gentle exfoliation of the skin. After a few weeks of trialling this product, I found that it leaves my skin feeling clean, however I'm not sure it has done much in terms of targeting the blackheads.

Given to me as a Christmas present from Liz, she knew I would immediately love this because of its fresh and zingy fragrance as well as nourish my dry skin. Packed with notes of grapefruit, orange and lemon, this citrusy formula is an intense and hydrating product that immediately works wonders on the skin due to its added ingredients of shea butter, sweet almond oil and aloe juice. I like to keep this product on my table as I'm working and massage it generously on my hands throughout the day and meanwhile enjoy its refreshing scent.

Having heard of good reviews of Cowshed and their missions in natural therapies and always passing by their homely designed interior store nearby where we live, I came across the body lotion whilst in search for a new one to try out, having finished my most recent tub of doves spa cream (mostly due to having more showers during this quaruntine period than normal!). As you may have already gathered, my general love of fruity and lemony notes drew me into the uplifting range of skincare which includes red mandarin, orange and grapefruit. Its lightweight and non sticky consistency reminded me of the ren body lotions so soaks into the skin quickly. I have enjoyed using this after I take morning showers to really get me started for the day ahead.
