Formosa Beautiful, from Latin formosus ('beautifully formed'), from forma ('form, shape") + adj suffix -osus ('full of'). Dating back to the 15th century the Portugese sighted a 'beautiful island' within the distance and consequently named this land, Formosa. An apt name that was given to this little island that lay on the outskirts of China and Japan, it is now recognised as Taiwan.
With Earth Day falling last week on Friday, it got us to thinking about the spectacular sites we get to experience and the precious beauty of nature. One of our favourite places that exudes this beauty is our motherland, Taiwan. Taiwan is made up of around two thirds mountainous terrain, making the views absolutely breathtaking. From the capital we love to take a hike up elephant mountain, where you experience being immersed within the lush greenery. Our other favourite natural site include the Taroko Gorge where the paraiba blue stream runs through the valley as well as Snow Mountain, a paradise for any avid hiker.

FROM EVERY ANGLE, THE PLACE IS ALIVE WITH MUSIC. FROM THE CICADAS THAT ECHO INTO THE DISTANCE, THE SOUNDS OF THE WAVES THAT CRASH INTO THE ROCKY MOUNTAINSIDES TO THE SOOTHING BREEZE THAT GENTLY SERANADES THE PALM TREES.

-

RENT A CAR AND DRIVE AIMLESSLY THROUGH WINDING ROADS, WHERE YOU'LL PASS THROUGH THE EXOTIC TREES ON EITHER SIDE OF THE ROADS BEARING ALL KINDS OF DIFFERENT FRUIT, THE GRADIENT OF CERULIAN BLUE LAYERS OF MOUNTAINS DISAPPEARING INTO THE DISTANCE AND THE PERFECTLY IMPERFECT BORDERED RICE FIELDS.
